bare trees sprout black feathers

and chatter


Navy Blue Angels ~

syncopated flight at dusk

over bird island


birds hop in grass

on broken bleached weeds

feeders abandoned


Jenny wren

hides in toad weed

singing love songs



cock tailed wren

dives up the drain pipe


hummingbird sips

fuchsia cascade in a pot

pink and purple


late afternoon

spills citron on verdigris

hummer pulses red


birdsong stills ~

crickets cicadas peepers

sing full the darkness


one mockingbird and I replay the music again long into night
