winter migration

bare trees sprout black feathers

and chatter

 

Navy Blue Angels ~

syncopated flight at dusk

over bird island

 

birds hop in grass

on broken bleached weeds

feeders abandoned

 

Jenny wren

hides in toad weed

singing love songs

 

peek-a-boo

cock tailed wren

dives up the drain pipe

 

hummingbird sips

fuchsia cascade in a pot

pink and purple

 

late afternoon

spills citron on verdigris

hummer pulses red

 

birdsong stills ~

crickets cicadas peepers

sing full the darkness

 

one mockingbird and I replay the music again long into night
